It is with deep regret that your committee has decided to cancel this seasons’ panto. Our group has performed a panto every year since 1975, an unbroken run of 45 years, so this has been a very difficult and painful decision to make.

We have kept our options open for as long as possible and whilst some groups are planning a heavily pared down version of panto, the tight backstage facilities in The Woodclyffe Hall create great difficulties for ensuring the safety of our actors and backstage crew. The limited audience size would probably also dampen the atmosphere of what is very much an audience participation event.

We have decided it is better to come back bigger and better in a years time rather than attempting a pale imitation. However, we are keeping the dates in the diary, and once our December production proves to be a success and if circumstances permit, we aim to put on a further production around those dates. This may well be in the form of a ‘review’, containing a number of short pieces involving small casts. This way we can ensure the safety of all involved, both in rehearsal and performance.

We really want your feedback, ideas and indeed contribution on this. At present the momentum of the group is maintained by just a handful of members and we would be delighted for more of our members to become involved. Contact with any ideas and to show your support. This is a great time to ‘dip your toe in the water’ and get involved. From small beginnings…
